Ten Camping Tips to make your nights under the stars even more rewarding
In the warm pine forests by the sea or among the peaks of the Alps, sleeping in tents in the open air is undoubtedly one of the most rewarding experiences for nature lovers.
1 – Organization, always!
In the tent, you go mainly to disconnect from the daily routine and from the hustle and bustle of the city.
You don’t have to take the risk of making it look like a job, but organizing all the components of the trip well is a good and right thing.
Miniature toolbox, tent, sleeping bag and pillow, lantern, kitchen kit, stove and water bottle with drinking water. If you want to venture into the woods, we add a map, telephone, good footwear and a rich dose of common sense and prudence.
2 – Always check the authorized areas!
If you are fond of the campsite you will have no problems whatsoever, just enter, pay the pitch and set up the tent.
But if you prefer a more “wild” experience and you want to make camping free in unequipped areas, always remember to check well where the places are where this activity is prohibited.

3 – Always choose the right tent

The weight we recommend for a 2/3 person tent varies from 3.5 to 5.5 kg.
It must be produced with a material resistant to cuts from branches and stones, waterproof, breathable and well ventilated.
4 – Avoid setting up the tent in the dark
Setting up your tent under the moonlight or with the light of the front flashlight alone can make you feel like new Robinson, but realizing that you have pitched your tent on a nice hidden anthill only in the morning may not be the ideal alarm clock.
Arriving earlier means familiarizing yourself with the place, and perhaps realizing that you are too close to a river or to the toilets if you are camping.
Even sleeping with a protruding root as a pillow is not the best if you want to rest in peace. This is undoubtedly one of the cases in which timing well can be relevant.
5 – Water-resistant equipment
Today there are sleeping bags and tents in the market produced with Water-Resistant or Water-Repellent materials that absorb one third less of the water and dry in less than half the time compared to traditional materials.
Some new curtains are also designed to limit the humidity inside and avoid the formation of condensation droplets on the internal walls.

6 – Always have a good flashlight
What could be more fascinating than a nice night bonfire near the place chosen to spend the night?
Less attractive but undoubtedly very useful is a good lantern and a front torch so as not to remain in the dark in the woods.
With a handful of euros, you can buy comfortable LED lamps that consume little and illuminate a lot.
For the most demanding there are some 250-lumen technological lanterns that can be recharged with solar panels, but if you are satisfied, a dozen euros are enough to bring home a good torch.
7 – Do not forget the importance of a good sleep
An excellent awakening can only be without a good rest. A sleepless night is never pleasant, especially on vacation.
First of all the sleeping bag: camping by the sea in the height of summer with a full-coverage winter sleeping bag can be a good idea only if you want a long sauna.
On the label, you will find all the information to understand which sleeping bag is most suitable, depending on the season and the place where you will spend the holiday.
A good compressible pillow, even if very thin, increases comfort while resting.
Inflatable or in microfibre, the advice to sleep in a correct position for the back is to avoid a pillow that is too high.
8 – Always test the equipment before leaving
It may sound like a stupid suggestion, but finding nasty surprises after two or three hours of walking and hundreds of kilometres from home is never pleasant.
All you need is a broken hinge, or even worse a missing bow or peg or a hole in the mat, which immediately excites the enthusiasm.
Before leaving, a quick check to verify that you have taken everything and that everything is in order and then off to the mountains.
9 – Having abundant water reserves and feeding properly
We are not telling you to feed on the pills or freeze-dried foods that are eaten on the International Space Station, but we are not also telling you to bring with you what you need to cook Christmas lunch.
As always, in Medio stat virtue: for quick and comfortable meals, especially in summer, a fresh rice salad and the classic sandwich can go well for an unpretentious dinner. If, on the other hand, you plan to stay away from shops for a few days, avoid perishable foods that require long cooking times.

For those who want to cook with the stove, it is good to choose a place sheltered from the wind and possibly without too many dry leaves nearby.

10 – Leave the camp as it was found
If we are guests of woods, parks and mountains, it is good to leave the place as it was found.
No refusal around, not even the card “which decomposes so quickly”.
